Connecting qualified job candidates with oil employers in the Northeast
Generation NEXT Energy Pros is a workforce development program that was launched in the spring of 2019 with state associations in the Northeast. The program was designed to connect local job candidates with potential employers in the oil and HVAC industries. The program utilizes a free online platform, marketing outreach, and speaking engagements to promote the oil industry as a viable career path for technical students and energy professionals.
Generation NEXT Energy Pros was designed to address the issue of an aging and retiring workforce and need for a new generation of employees by providing local applicants with information about viable career opportunities with local oil and HVAC companies. The program includes a free online platform where job applicants can upload their resumes and connect with local oil and HVAC companies for employment opportunities.
The first program launched in the spring of 2019 and as of early 2020 Generation NEXT Energy Pros has become active in Connecticut, Upstate New York, and Rhode Island. These state associations were able to utilize funding from the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) and state workforce development grants to work with industry affiliate, ServicEdge™, to implement Generation NEXT Energy Pros in their market.
Since beginning in 2019, Generation NEXT Energy Pros has visited over 20 schools and has given over 25 presentations across the participating regions. There are over 230 applicants and 80 oil dealers registered on the web platform. These numbers will continue to grow in 2020 as Generation NEXT Energy Pros continues to build on this network of applicants, employers, and educators to help oil companies fill job openings, to help applicants with immediate hiring needs find jobs, and to promote the oil industry as a practical career path to students that will seek job opportunities in the future.
